For me, a watch is something I invest in. The last watch I purchased I splurged on, and I still have it! It has to be stylish but also timeless… I’ve come to a point in my life that I value simplicity. I would so much rather spend some extra money buying something I really love (and having just one of said item). This “capsule wardrobe” mentality has really shifted the way I allocate money in my (minimal) shopping budget.
How does a capsule wardrobe work? Well, I have just one of a lot of things: winter coat, boots, pair of jeans, black pants, white sweater, etc. I like to think of it as LESS items, but you absolutely LOVE all of them. To me, it also means quality over quantity. Sure, I may spend $200 on a watch, but it will last for SO many years! The last watch I got under this same capsule wardrobe mentality about 5 years ago… it’s made of thin leather strips and is wearing out… as much as I love it, it was time for a new watch!
What better time to get a new, unique watch than the New year? Let me tell you about my latest addition to my capsule wardrobe: my new favorite watch! If you’re on Instagram a lot like I am, you may have seen JORD wooden watches around… I’ve seen a lot of people go on and on about how much they love theirs, and I have wanted one basically since they came out! I already had a great watch, so it never was the right timing (I promise I’m not trying to make corny watch puns… it’s just happening naturally… ;) ) Since my last watch was on the fritz, and 2017 was around the corner, I finally got one!
I’ve been thinking a lot about time recently with the beginning of a new year… I’ve been journaling, planning, and dreaming about what 2017 will hold for me, this blog of mine, and my family. I love JORD wooden watches because their passion isn’t even about telling the time, it’s about making each moment count. This watch represents just that for me. It’s a reminder to me to take advantage of every opportunity, dream big, and love often.
