Blackberry Chia Jam Recipe 2This Blackberry Chia Jam recipe is so good and so easy, you may never buy jarred jam again! The chia seeds are packed full of omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, calcium, iron and are rich in antioxidants. Using honey as a sweetener allows you to use less sugar and still get plenty of sweet flavor.

 

The process couldn’t be easier! Simply add blackberries and honey to a saucepan on the stove top and cook low and slow until the berries break apart and the blackberries release their liquid. Then add the chia seeds and salt and stir. Continue to cook until it has thickened to your desired consistency.  

 

Let cool and store in a sealed container for up to 10 days. 

 

This recipe works with other berries and can be used in all sorts of ways! Get creative and add a dollop to your granola, spread a schmear on your bagel or toast, or make a PB&J for your kids’ lunch! 

 

I first created this jam recipe for that very reason: I needed jam for Owen’s PB&J and didn’t have any! What I did have was all of the below ingredients. Low and behold, it worked, and now it’s the only jam we use!

    • 2 cups blackberries
    • ¼ c honey
    • ¼ c chia seeds
    • Pinch salt
