I’m proactive about my lung health because we live in Colorado where there are wildfires ever summer. But there’s not a whole lot of legitimate products out there to support everyday lung health. That’s why I’m so thrilled to share with you these live probiotics for lung health from ResBiotic – resB® Lung Support!

This blog post is sponsored by ResBiotic, but all thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting my work with brands I believe in so I can continue to provide free content for you.

resB® Lung Support Review + Coupon Code

Digestion has always been my weakest link, so probiotics are really important to me. Especially a probiotic that is specific for digestive concerns and immune support like resB® Lung Support Probiotic.

I really like resB® because it’s not only a blend of probiotic strains, but it’s ALSO a blend of botanical extracts known to support immune function and healthy respiratory function. It’s also important to me that it is a physician scientist founded company out of the University of Alabama at Birmingham – they know what they’re doing! They based this product on over a decade of research on lung health, microbiome science, and the gut-lung axis.

What are the signs you need probiotics?

There are a wide range of health conditions associated with dysbiosis (dysbiosis meaning an imbalance of the bacteria in your gut). From new food sensitivities, allergies, skin conditions (acne, eczema, psoriasis), mood disorders, to inflammatory and immune issues (including autoimmune diseases). Any of these issues could be a sign to take a probiotic supplement to support your gut, and resB® is a great choice for athletes and everyday humans that want to boost their respiratory systems as well.

Gluten Free Probiotic + Dairy Free Probiotic

Since I am gluten free AND dairy free, it’s important for me to find a gluten free probiotic that’s a dairy free probiotic, as well. I’m happy to announce that resB® is:

  • Gluten Free
  • Dairy Free
  • Lactose Free
  • Vegan
  • Nut Free
  • Non-GMO
  • High Potency
  • Temperature Controlled
  • Made in the USA

Who is resB® Lung Support for?

Really, anyone!! But, some specific examples are:

  • Those with high lung health risks (so smokers or former smokers, firefighters, and people who live near wildfires, industrial workers, or those who live near lots of pollution).
  • Those who take probiotics for digestion, but would like the added benefits of a science-backed formula  that also supports immune and lung health.
  • Athletes and biohackers interested in science-based products to optimize respiratory, digestive, and immune functions .
  • Those with seasonal or exercise-induced breathing concerns.

Which Live Probiotic Strains are in resB®?

ResB® contains a blend of these live probiotic strains:

  • L. Plantarum RSB11®
  • L. Acidophilus RSB12®
  • L. Rhamnosus RSB13®

*Data shows that this blend is more efficient than just 1 or 2 strains alone. Additionally, resB® has been tested for survivability, viability, and potency (meaning it will actually get where it needs to go and be strong enough to see positive health effects).

What does live probiotics mean?

Live probiotics (like resB®) means that they are a living microorganism. These microorganisms already live in your gut, and you can supplement with additional live probiotics. The definition of a probiotic is living bacteria in adequate quantities to confer health benefits on the host (Hill et al, 2014). So to some degree, “live probiotics” is redundant. If the bacteria is no longer alive, it can no longer be described as a probiotic.

What botanical extracts are in resB®?

ResB® contains turmeric root, holy basil leaf, and vasaka leaf to support immune function and healthy respiratory function.

Do probiotics need refrigeration?

Some probiotics need refrigeration and some do not. There are two tips here. First, read your bottle of probiotics. It should tell you how to store your probiotics. The second tip is to think about how it was stored when you bought it or how it shipped, and store it that way. I appreciate that resB® is a science backed dose with a refrigerated supply chain from start to finish. The shipping is 2-day refrigerated shipping, and I immediately transfer it to my fridge for storage. I also appreciate that ResBiotic did third party stability testing, so I can safely travel with resB® Lung Support without worrying about loss of potency.

What is the difference between live and active probiotics?

There isn’t necessarily a difference between live and active probiotics, except that live probiotics may be kept dormant (through a process called lyophilized, which essentially freeze-dries the bacteria) to preserve potency until they are consumed and activated in your gut. Another term you may hear is “live cultures” or “active cultures.” It’s worth noting that all probiotics are live cultures, but not all live cultures are probiotics.

Is it better to take live probiotics?

Yep! The way to make sure product marketing itself as a probiotic actually meets the definition of containing living bacteria in adequate quantities to confer health benefits on the host is to look for a CFU count on the label. CFU stands for colony forming units, which is a measure of probiotic activity. High potency probiotic blends range from 10-100B CFU per capsule, but bigger doesn’t always mean better with CFU counts. A good practice is to look for clinically studied strains at a research-backed dose.

*For reference, resB®’s serving is one capsule twice a day, providing a total of 30B CFU per day.

Which probiotic strains are best for lungs?

The best, most studied probiotic for lungs is lactobacillus rhamnosus. (Tapiovarra et al, 2016) This is one of the three probiotic strains in resB® Lung Support for this very reason. Lactobacillus plantarum has also been studied in the context of upper respiratory support. (Chong et. al, 2019) All three strains have been studied for their immune supportive benefits.
