It’s super hard to find Whole30 Mayo Brands

If this is you, don’t panic. You’re not alone. Almost every single brand of mayonnaise contains either soybean oil or sugar, or both. It can be really hard to find Whole30 mayo brands. It’s because there are only 10 Whole30 mayo brands out there!

In fact, when I first did a Whole30 back in 2014, there wasn’t a single Whole30 mayo brand on the market. Not one!! Those were the days where we homemade every. single. condiment, dressing, or sauce. These days it’s a bit easier to find Whole30 mayo brands- even in a store near you! I just updated this article from way back in the day, and it jumped from 3 compliant brands to 10! I’ll take it! It’s so nice to see brands creating products that consumers actually want! Some of these brands have even updated their recipes to remove soy oil or sugar – way to go!

So when it comes to Whole30 mayo, you’ve got a couple of options. Below you’ll find you can either make your own or snag one of the approved Whole30 mayo brands.

Option #2: Here’s a List of Whole30 Mayo Brands:

(Keep scrolling for more info on each brand, which specific varieties are Whole30 Compliant, and where you can find them!)

Best Whole30 Mayo Brands:

This first categories of Whole30 Mayo brands are the best choice. Why? Because they’re made without vegetable oils. Primal Kitchen, Tessemae’s, Chosen Foods, Sir Kensington’s, and Avonaise mayonnaises are made with healthier oils- yum!

Primal Kitchen Mayonnaises – officially Whole30 Approved®

Primal Kitchen Mayonnaises are my favorite Whole30 mayos out there… I really love them because there are SO many varieties. A lot of people are obsessed with the Chipotle Lime variety (my husband included!). We love making pan-fried plantains and dipping them in it! You really can’t go wrong with any of these mayos!

Whole30 Mayonnaise from Primal Kitchen:

You can find Primal Kitchen mayos in lots of grocers (at least Whole Foods, Kroger/ King Soopers, Target, Natural Grocers, Sprouts, and Safeway), in their shop, on Amazon, on Thrive Market, or use their store locator!

Tessemae’s Mayonnaises – officially Whole30 Approved®

I’m a huge fan of all things Tessemae’s. They’re a family-owned company and I know them personally! They’re really great humans. I LOVE their mayonnaise because it’s a lot lighter than other varieties- it almost has a whipped component to it. If that’s your jam, you gotta go with Tessemae’s!

Whole30 Mayonnaise from Tessemae’s:

Ingredients in Tessemae’s Organic Mayonnaise: *High oleic sunflower oil, *cage free salted egg yolks (*cage free egg yolks, salt), *lemon juice, *apple cider vinegar, water, *mustard (*vinegar, water, *mustard seeds, salt, *spices), sea salt, rosemary extract. *Organic ingredients.

Chosen Foods Mayonnaises

I’m impressed with Chosen Foods because they actually improved their mayonnaise formulas over the years and now they’re Whole30 compliant – YAY! They, too have many different mayonnaise varieties, but I gotta say that the roasted garlic is my favorite! The wasabi mayo is actually made using horseradish, so I use it like a horseradish dip when we eat steak, it’s fabulous.

Chosen Foods Whole30 Mayo

Whole30 Mayonnaise from Chosen Foods:

I still recommend Chosen Foods mayonnaises as a great first option because they use avocado oil.

You can find Avonaise Vegan Whole30 Mayo on Amazon or use their store locator.

Second Best Choices

These options are all made with either sunflower oil or canola oil… Here’s a word from the Whole30 Program on vegetable oils.

In Chapter 9 of It Starts With Food, we discuss all the reasons that seed (vegetable) oils like soybean, peanut, canola, corn, or grapeseed violate our Good Food standards and should be off your everyday plate. However, if we eliminated all vegetable oils from the Whole30 program, you’d never be able to dine outside of your own home! All restaurants use some form of vegetable oil in their cooking. A ban on all oils would mean you could never have a business lunch, grab a compliant burger at the airport, or enjoy a date night at your favorite bistro. And that would make the Whole30 plain old impossible for most of you.

So, we ban the seed oils specifically off-limits according to the Whole30 “no grains, no legumes” rules (corn oil, rice bran oil, soybean oil, and peanut oil), and encourage you to limit your use of the others (like safflower, sunflower, canola, grapeseed, or sesame) at home, while not specifically excluding them on the program.

Your Whole30 Mayo FAQ’s:

Can I have mayo on Whole30?

Yes you can! Any of the Whole30 Approved and Whole30 compliant brands in this post are compliant for your Whole30, but we suggest choosing a brand in our “Best Whole30 Mayo Brands” category.

Is Duke’s Mayo Whole30?

No, Duke’s Mayo is not Whole30 compliant because it uses soybean oil.

Is Trader Joe’s Mayo Whole30 Compliant?

The variety we listed above “Trader Joe’s Real Mayonnaise” is technically compliant, but as it uses canola oil, shouldn’t be used regularly.

Is Avocado Mayo Whole30 Compliant?

Yes! Some varieties of avocado mayo are Whole30 compliant. We’ve scoured the internet, and only the brands listed in this post are compliant (Primal Kitchen, Tessemae’sSir Kensington’s, and Avonaise).

Why is avocado mayo better for you?

Most conventional mayonnaises use seed oils as their main ingredient. Most are seed oils that are high in inflammation-inducing omega-6’s. Avocado oil mayo is a healthier option because it is high in omega-3’s instead. Try Primal Kitchen avocado oil mayonnaise.

Is there sugar free mayonnaise?

Yes there is! Every single brand in this post is sugar free.

What’s the healthiest mayonnaise?

It really comes down to the oils used in mayonnaise. Most are seed oils that are high in inflammation-inducing omega-6’s. The healthiest mayonnaises use avocado oil and have no added sugar or preservatives, like Primal Kitchen mayonnaise.
